What are you built for? 

 "A ship in the harbour is safe, but that's not what ships are built for" - John Shedd

Are you doing what you were built for? 

Are you fulfilled? 

Are you being true to who you really are and what's important to you?

The quote above, you may know it. It spoke to me first at a key time many years back, I was about to start a new role - it felt big and and I had excitement and anxieties all rolled into one.   Years on, the quote still speaks to me - what is it saying to you today?

Is it more about who you are being or maybe something about what you need to do? 

Be encouraged in your considerable achievements, think back on the times when you didn't stay safe...Congratulate yourself for stepping out on what you were built for!

Future or fear?

Fear stops us from doing so much, the tape in our head...."this could be dangerous, uncomfortable, difficult, may not work, cause me even more stress, I don't have time, it wont work anyway, I've tried it before, what's the point, they wont like me, I'll look stupid, it wont happen to me, I have responsibilites"?

Familiar messages that might play in your head?

Sometimes stopping and thinking for a few short moments about what we want and not letting fear stand before us ( looming TALL!) is a good idea.

What do you want your future to look like?

What today do you want to be part of your future? 

Where is fear getting in the way?  When was the last time you went ahead took courage in your hands and did something you were fearful of and it had a good result! 

Remind yourself today of all the skills you have, of everything you are good at. 

Remind yourself today of achievements you are proud of.

Remind yourself of  the future you want.

When we get clear about what we want, it's the first step on the path to making it happen.

Embracing your dreams ?

 

If you knew it would work, would you do it?

Do you have the commitment and belief to make it happen?

Will you look back in 2/5/10 years and wish you had?

Looking at Olympic sportsmen and sports women - I am inspired by their focus, discipline, perseverance. They ride the good and bad times - and keep going for Gold! I wonder where they started, what their story is?

Today, stop, pause - what is really important to you about your life in the future?  Write it down and look at it again tomorrow and the next day...

What do you want to do about it?  Action plan - start taking one step, one action. Do it!

I have the privilege of seeing people achieve dreams, it's not fluffy and airy fairy - it happens,  some people make their dreams happen - will you be one of them?

What's the topic?

 

Perspectives - how many can you have on the topic you want to explore or do something about?

Choices - what are the options, which is the best one for you right now?

Planning - what's the plan?

Commitment - are you willing to commit to your goal, your plan?

Actions - clear, step by step actions

 

All so that your topic -  idea/dream/goal becomes a reality.....

 

Got a sheet of A4 and some colour pens ( yes permission to excite your brain!) - jot down some thoughts and have a look at them, what do they tell you ...... what's your next step?

Hope, Goal or Intention?

Hope, Goal or Intention - that's the question?

The "thing" you're really grappling with to solve  - or the "thing" you would just really love but can't see a way - are you serious about it?  How much do you want to achieve the dream or solution.  So on a scale of 1 to 10, (10 being high!) - where are you on the scale? 

  • Do you just hope it will go away or hope it will happen?
  • Do you have a clear goal in sight or are you not quite certain, what the goal is?
  • How high is your intention, how deep your determination?

Your situation may affect this, are you "bogged down", tired, stressed, fed up or are you highly motivated, going for it, full of strength and clear you're going to get there?

Whatever your situation - in the next 24 hours, tell someone what you've just been thinking about - and also do one other thing, take a simple step towards it. If you do, you'll be on your way.
